looking to borrow or buy HoN account

League of Legends is better and free (if you don't want to pay for champs you can buy them, the only thing you can't buy without cash is skins).

HoN is trash compared to League, check out the league of legends thread on teamliquid.net for the basics and introduction. The transition will be easy if you are a dota player. The community in the TL thread is really great, we have some of the top players in the game posting there and a lot of newer to mid players soaking up their knowledge. There's always a game to be found with a team at any skill level in our channel, so you don't have to suffer the pubs.

Anyway just give league a shot before you get into HoN, at the very least it's free. I got SC2 to play while they update league and I just constantly find myself thinking about playing League while I'm on SC2.

Sorry if this is slightly off topic, but just had to comment on this. You got quite a lot of "lol is better, hon is trash" without any actual arguments. To me at least, HoN has all the good from dota but in a whole lot more polished, more functional package. You can play the game and have no handicap versus any other player in terms of items/heroes you can use from the get-go. This obviously is not the case with lol, unless you start getting into those micro transactions.

Ah sorry, sometimes I come off as a bit too fanatical about LoL. HoN isn't trash, I retract that statement.
