This was one of the most unfortunate incidents that happened to online poker, and it was caused by an unscrupulous management team that has since been fired.
A user working for the company gave himself an unfair advantage where he could basically see opponent's hole cards. This didn't go unnoticed and sites like 2+2 almost immediately detected cheatery and cropped it up.
Because of this Absolute Poker is probably one of the safest sites these days, although we don't promote them here. Because of the way the incident cannibalized their entire business, they are forced to play it fair, and build up again to gain shareholder value.
They learned their lesson the hard way, and this should serve as an example for all poker websites.
High Risk Poker Rooms
Absolute Poker – was involved in a cheating scandal that involved access to player's hole cards. At the minimal high ranking (now former) employees of Absolute Poker assisted the cheaters and the company was caught red handed in lies and cover ups.
UB Poker – same ownership of absolute poker and formers employees and past ownership stole at least $6 million dollars from players in unfair games. Even though much of this money was paid back it was only after the poker community caught them red handed and exposed the scam. There is no telling how long this might of occurred had they not been caught red handed. We strongly recommend avoiding any poker room associated with this group.
I play on UB on low stakes .25/.5 no problems so far for me. I dot love blaming my bad beats on super accounts though! Makes me feel alot better and GoTuNk after 2008 why would you trust any bank? lol
