Now a week has past since I started playing again. The results I guess have been OK, however it feels like not much is happening and I was kind of believing it would be easier to beat these games. I'm of course aware of variance and all that but I do have to question my own play every day while playing.
I believe my strategy for this kind of sit and go's is good. It was quite a long time since I was doing single table tournaments, but I was playing a lot of multi table ones last year and these super turbo singles are basically all about pushbot play, which isn't that hard to pull off in a kind of balanced way.
Since this is low stakes though I shouldn't just stick to what is the proper way to play theoritcally. There's tons of weak players to whom I should adapt my strategy. I've started doign some observations and this is what I've come up with so far:
- Tighten your range when is villain opening/pushing, since most players at low stakes are way too passive
- You can easily get away with being more aggressive at the bubble
- Pushbot play should start when average stack is around 15 big blinds
I'll be thinking about more ways to abuse the lower level players weaknesses, my head is kind of empty right now. I was just thinking I could bring this up to reach out to you guys reading the blog, giving me some ideas of how to exploit players at low stake sit and go's, instead of just focusing on playing game theoritcally correct in every situation.
So, yeah, my bros, do you have any ideas?
Today: 107 games -€18.50

Not sure how long it has been since you last grinded a large amount of volume, but the quality of play, even in micro stakes, has risen significantly
The games are decently soft, but from what others have said, it is much tougher than it once was |

307 games and - 50€ at microstakes (5€ / 6€ games ?) doesnt sound too great tbh.
ofc Variance in Sit and Goes is big. Even at lowstakes.
But 300games - 10BI at microstakes u either have to run really bad or do something pretty wrong.
What makes Low stakes SNGS profitable is pretty easy
1.) Villians play for too big pots when blinds are low and chipcount doesnt really matter
2.) Villians call your pushes far too wide Like A6 or KJs vs a UTG Push for stacksizes and stuff
3.) people dont push hard enough when its 3 handed and blinds are high.
However when u look at 2+3 this ofc results in pretty big variance
U push a lot + u get called too much
-> lots of 60-40 "flips" for u
But i also agree with #2
While when i started Poker in 2008 every SnG was down to 4-5 people after the first 10 minutes and u could sometimes get ITM without playing a single hand
nowadays even at the 6$ ones 7/9 people are still in the game when blinds increase to 10-12bb Push fold mode |

Its probably like in Starcraft 1
Even though D+ iccup is still newb and u can easily beat it when u are good...
D+ on Iccup in Sc1 is 100 times harder than Gold in SC2
ALmost everyone in Poker nowadays knows some decent basics |

I don't know. It's just two days with a decent amount of volume. Also remember that it's super turbo with 2 min blinds, making the swings higher than normal turbos.
To me it feels a little naive to say that you shouldn't lose during 300 games. I do have about 3,33% ROI in >700 games in total this month. I believe though that I should be able to keep a higher ROI during a 700 game streak, as long as I don't run extremely bad. |
