So while I was grinding I started thinking about what thumb rules you can use to decide whether or not you should make a continuation bet and I came up with this:
This is supposed to apply for both in and out of position with you always being the aggressor pre-flop.
I was going to add examples to show you some basic strategies with certain ranges of hands, but I'll do it later. What I'm slightly worried about is that my ranges might get too polarized by generalizing like this, but it should be easy to adjust to make it a bit more "merged" and less exploitable.
Edit: Last question of course means if hero can call or raise a bet with it on a blank turn.
Edit 2: Realized I forgot to add which hands are not even good enough to bet and you should just give up right away. It was too obvious for me when I was thinking about this. I guess we can just call the "Bluff" part which hands you semi bluff. Rest of the hands goes into bet or check/fold. :D
Edit 3: This is also assuming that you will never check/raise as aggressor.

first thoughts: how low is your opponent's fold to cbet stat. then proceed like that. |

This is for a basic generalized strategy which doesn't take stats/reads/tells into account. Basically a GTO strategy, or at least (hopefully) close to become an un-exploitable strategy. In short: "GTO" for lazy people. |

you ignore the most important concept in value betting. you dont even consider if he'll call with worse. |

just bcuz you cant call a raise doesnt necessarily mean you shouldnt value bet. lets say you get called 90% of the time by worse hands when you value bet in a certain spot and get raised 10%, that doesnt mean you shouldnt value bet just bcuz you cant continue vs the raise. |

Isn't that assuming that we bet/fold a lot of the hands we bet for value on flop? I mean it seems to me there's a serious amount of hands you want to bet for value which you can't call a raise with, which is probably pretty weak. |

I think you're expecting your opponents to actully raise you MUCH more than they will if they are actually fish. If they aren't then you might consider something closer to the like when you're balancing and when you think that he's actually gonna start raising rather than calling down when he thinks you're bluffing/have a semi okay hand for value. The most money you will make is from fish. The most money from the fish comes from vbetting hand and getting called by worse. Most fish are the more passive, stationy ones and wont raise often, which means just checking is weak as hell when you think you can't call a raise. I mean, think along these lines: YOu bet, 9 out of 10 times the fish will call and he'll raise once. Out of those 9 times, he's gonna have a worse hand 7-8 times. If you just check 'cause he raises once out of those 10 times you are missing a WHOLE lot of value. |

no, not wanting to bet for value out of fear of being raised is pretty weak. |

from the looks of your chart youre only willing to bet for value with hands you want to stack off with?
youre losing a tonnnnnnnnnnn of value. |

You're approach is wrong to c betting.
value bet if the majority of the hands in their range is worse than yours.
bluff if they'll fold a ton of better hands to your bet "ex. c betting K92 board w AQ because most small pp and even 9x or better can fold if it's the right opponent"
Just make small adjustments based on your observations and proceed. Just think about what you're trying to accomplish by betting in any situation and compare your hand vs their hand range. or to take it a step further compare what they perceive your range is vs their range.
and yes the "fold to cbet" stat is pretty useful in this spot. |

Also: you're missing out on one very very important concept...
you don't make jack shit at poker if you don't bet your good hands.
if you're gonna start checking you top pair pretty much every time cuz you're scared money then you'll be a losing player, period. |

yeah this chart is wrong
just look for value against their range and strike out at them with bets like a man come alive against the tides of the infinite waves of variance |
