What the guy above me said.
I have a p55 + core i3 + ati radeon 5750 myself and it runs amazing. when it's overclocked to 4ghz it runs godly.

Anyways some suggesstions
Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product...9_240-pin_ddr3-_-20-231-274-_-Product

heatsink/fan: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018

This heatsink requires a large tower. It's one of the best cpu coolers though.

what's a good processor that will peform today's programs well for atleast until 5-6 years from now? What is enough to stream videos smoothly, make diablo 3 look beautiful, and not slowdown when playing poker stars, watching a video, talking on aim, etc at the same time? Are these i7 or i5's necessary or are they over doing it? don't feel like paying over 200 for the processor .

or is it really worth it?

CPU

-AMD Phenom II X3 740 BE, 3,00 GHz, DDR3-1333 has probably the best price/performance ratio atm
Costs like ~ 90$ or something and is fast enough for all recent games and applications.

-Intel Core i3-530, 2,93 GHz, DDR3-1333, SMT ein is totally fine too
is like ~100$ or something and fast enough for everything you need , too

AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE, 3,40 GHz, DDR3-1333
for an AMD system in combination with a 6870 radeon is also nice for a 1000$ computer build

Best Video card in terms of value for money available atm is by far a nice GTX460 1GB

ram doesnt really matter as longas u get 2x2GB DDr3 of a good brand

Well with 1000$ i d either go for a

AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE, 3,40 GHz, DDR3-1333 + 6870 radeon AMD
or
Intel Core i3-530, 2,93 GHz + GTX 460 1GB

U see what i did there with A8 ? He 4 bets and there we go insta jam A8 : ---booooom -- . hahahaha ( Krantz)

For intel processors, i3, i5, i7, will all do it's job. You will have no issues with anything you've mentioned for the next 5-6 years with a good video card + cpu. tbh an i7 just isnt worth it. you can basically get the same bang for your buck using an i3 or i5. And if you know anything about overclocking you can take performance even further. I've played my ps2 mod which is a memory hugger, as well as streaming youtube videos, while having msn open and have had no issues at all.

i5 is going for < $200 right now.

Just make sure you get a motherboard with socket 1156 as the i5 is only compatible with those.

lol yea same setup too, also this will cost way less than 1k, so u can prolly pimp it up to core i7 920, the SSD will b the component thats gonna cost u, buts its a must buy.
