I just am not a winner at this game

As much as I love rush because of the volume of hands I can get in, it is time to go back to ring games. Playing 4 tables of rush doesn't not allow a lot of time for decision making. I feel that most of my losses are due to bad calls on the river and planning processes. Although there are a lot of terrible players at rush poker, I do not sit with them every hand, making it harder to win money off the fish.

I have not played a significant amount of ring game hands yet, only about 4000. I'm up about 4BI but know the swings could come at any moment. I still hate the fact that ring games are too slow but a least when I make decisions I have enough time to think. The one thing I like the most is being able to see the showdowns of other players instead of automatically jumping to new tables. This way it is much easier to notice who is a huge fish based on the showdowns. Rush has increased my speed of analysis so keeping track of 8 full ring tables and all the players feels ridiculously easy. Will be looking forward to the challenge in December.

It's the only game that makes me tilt. I played 4 tables 6-max rush yesterday thinking I would play this current promotion and have never seen so many sets Vs the top of may range or my set Vs rivered draws that had no right to get to the river - result = -8BI BUT at least 2 of those were pure spew where I tilted like fuck as I just couldn't believe it was happening. I never tilt playing normally (well not in the sense of spewing tilt anyway). That's the end of rush for me too.

rush is pretty pointless and bad for development of microstakes players
you shouldn't even have committed 150k hands to it, you have spent it improving and getting in a better position to move up

Not totally readless any more but I agree - I played it for bonus whoring purposes only to get owned on the rush variance train.

I could play 24 tables full ring without issue but had a little trouble with 4 tabling rush 6-max, especially if I wanted to write notes. That's probably why 8 tables full ring is way less than the equivalent of 4 rush tables. Maybe your issue is the amount of decisions you have to make in an allotted amount of time. You can try playing 2 tables of rush instead and see what happens.

-nice samplesize sir , probably we met there ... just want to say u couldn't make a better decision , as soon as i clear first deposit bonus i will start to play ring games too ...
- poker is about tableselection and making notes not about playing 1 K + hands an hour , ofc some massgrinders wouldn't agree with my conclusion ...

You gotta plow through that shit ! Last edit: 02/12/2010 11:05
