After quitting for 2 months now. It was hard to detox myself out of the rut poker imbedded in me. My mistake for not living a more balanced life for more than 4 years now, first time ever ive done this and it feels great. Im not even thinking about poker anymore, except for the fact that LP is still one the only few sites I NEED to check daily lol. No money less problems I guess, but the break is definitely worth it. I plan to get back to the grind next year but I'll have something on the side to do which keeps me from just
playing all day. I hope poker is kinder next year but I'm not too worried since I'm a lot less miserable and lonely now that I got some other stuff totally non-poker related to do everyday. Poker money is still easy and quick but I can't see myself doing this for another 2 years, so at least next year is a start!!!
good luck guys

Good outlook, good luck.

Whats interesting is that you become numbed to the effects the longer you play. At first you just think that every second you spend not playing poker is wasting a considerable amount of money. You play nonstop and get emotionally invested. After a while you start to realize that poker will always be there in one way shape or form. You begin to enjoy your life and just play the game realizing that youre always profitable no matter what your day to day results show. You still play a lot but not to the point of exhaustion and when you're not playing instead of thinking about wasting money relaxing you enjoy your free time.

Or at least thats where I feel like I'm almost at.

Now I really am a busto. Thanks FTP.

as long as you're happy with whatever you're doing you really wont bother looking at what you're doing in the next 2 years. think positive whamm, that's all there is to it.

Maynard hit it right. that's the feeling i always wanted to have about poker but never felt it at any point in time except when i was starting out at the micros not knowing anything at all . i think poker's effect on me was it solved a ton of financial troubles but it brought out my "negativity" to a whole new sick level. i just did not realize it since i was numbed by all the great cool stuff i could buy with what i got from poker. im pretty sure i felt i wasnt built for poker even when i started out and just soldiered on for years looking for angles i could profit from it (fpp proing, staying in micros), at the same time feeling the pressures of what "should" be done with your poker career. balancing both drove me to the point of exhaustion really. now that all this is happening to me i feel that i am truly excited about playing poker again next year lol.
