first of all sorry for all my shitty hands that i've been posting. i am going through the downswing of my life and during the time it was somewhat cathartic to post suck outs, etc. obviously posting hands where you got sucked out doesn't really help you get better....

as stated i am going through the downswing of my life. not to say it even compares to what other people are going through/have went through. i've never incessantly been sucked out longer than 3-4 days in a row. its been like 10 days of run bad and is exceptionally tough to go through. i'm not whining i'm just trying to convey my current state of distress.

i have been going through all my big pots, and i really am putting my money in way ahead. i don't think i am playing bad.

i've stated multiple times that i don't believe downswings to be even possible at nl10-50 just due to sheer edge but even now i stand corrected.

how did you guys who went through sick downswings (in the sense of duration) recover? how did u guys manage to even have the courage to log in and play?

Lol wow - You are a lucky man to say the least. 3-4 days were your worst? Check this out - I have had one winning session in December - I am on a 38 buy in downswing. And no this is not the "downswing of my life" I have had two before just as bad. I had 5 winning sessions in a month and a half period last year totaling a 48 buy in downswing. A month later I went through another 20+ downswing and quit poker soon after that and didn't come back till 6 months later and then crushed turning $100 into $9.7k. So I do not have much advice on how to turn it around as I just could never get out of my holes. All I can say is it's the worst and I wish you the best of luck - Just know that there are people out there, like me, who go through a lot worse on the regular basis. (And to enforce your new find - The two major downswings before now were on NL 50 and the one now is from NL 100).

imo it's good practice to learn HU and 6max. When I start running bad in FR, I usually take a day off and play some video games or something. If I'm still not feeling it, I play HU instead.

Eventually I get bored of HU and go back to FR or 6max; rinse and repeat.

Oh and depending on who you play against, your winrate might be like 4-10x. I probably make more money at NL50 HU than I do at NL200.

the variance of the games is something that comes from playing too many hands and not having as much edge on the games.

i.e. Joeingram vs. Talentedtom

I just keep playing until I'm up

Browsing through your hand histories makes me wonder that you might not be aware these games are possibly play money. Have you ever tried to cash out? - Kapol

you need to start learning how to play postflop, I would advise learning heads up

I don't think I could have gotten that good that fast if it wasn't for heads up

Im not sure what to do tomorrow when I see her, should I shake her hand?? -Floofy

Too drunk to read any previous posts, so this may already have been said.

It is crucial to think you are never 'in' a downswing, or that habituates your play. At any given moment whatever happens happens. You know that obviously or you would never have got this far, but make damn sure you play that.

Researchers used brain scans to show that when straight men looked at pictures of women in bikinis, areas of the brain that normally light up in anticipation of using tools, like spanners and screwdrivers, were activated.

look at more than big pots - when you start to downswing you're likely to start spewing in small spots due to the tilt from the suckouts, so even if all your big pots are coolers it doesn't meant you're playing well. Check your smaller pots and if you're objective you probably can find some leaks to deal with.
