Create an account in my site pls (lol)

just play pacman or one of the hundreds of stupid arcade games, listen to my small playlist or just check it out and tell me what needs to be improved

*mp3 flash player at portal page
*arcade games are in menu

I find the layout very confusing

yeah i have an identity crisis with what to put out first, the portal,forums or the flagship service which is classifieds been struggling with the concept for over 2 months now

i need more input like that tbh, i dont want to advertise and just put people off coz of bad layout etc

your classifieds button doesnt have the correct mouseover image.. it shows white corners.. your main logo isnt anti aliased on the edges of the letters so it looks gritty.. your layout has too much stupid sheit.. drop the calendar, people know what day it is, and most computers have it on the toolbar.. the most recent registered users doesnt need to be there.. the arcade is pointless.. you dont need a forum and classifieds section.. just make that 1 section.. overall the idea i think is pretty bad unless for some reason you dont have ebay and or craigslist where you are.. buy wanyways.. streamline your site so it is simple, not distracting with useless information.. and then get working on advertising.. to monetize a site like this you need like 10K hits a day, and believe me thats Very hard with a unoriginal idea.

yeah i guess i was trying too hard to come out as a forum platform which looks like a CMS or worpress kind of thing, i might streamline it but i cant do anything with the buttons since the platforms mods needs updating frequently and its terribly complicated to work with customized themes. might just go with the forum and classifieds look and do away with the portal and just keep some relevant blocks. thanks for the headsup


i can integrate the classfieds with the index page so that itll be there right away

the site is fine. don't do too much at one time. tho some criticism is good and make changes gradually. honestly didn't expect it to look nice. congrats!

yeah i had to put out something out there haha. i might try get rid of the portal though, what milkman said was true and thats really been the hardest part of thinking how the layout should be. i mean plain is always good (but i might leave some blocks that can actually help give more info how to use the auction system

and remove playlist and blogs.. that stuff is silly too.. craigslist is the best example of a good free listing site.. so just copy that.. dont put anything that isnt used for making a ad or auction. your sites not gonna look better to people just because it has 20 plugins on it, the best sites have tons of functionality but look simple.. and its functionality that is needed.

yeah ill take out some of the stupid fat and just add if they want it right? people here are different and have lots of time for bullshit tbh. but those infos thatll prob just hurt the site ill take out now.also going to get rid of the site redirect, had problems with the portal designers hating the guy who made the auction software so i need to php code to call the recent auctions with pics in the frontpage

i think ill just delete the forum part as well

TBh the site is a good start to building something, but IMO it should be viewed as starting/learning and not for profit. The site is kind of 2000 style, with layout that is akward and not lacks eye candy/polish or simplicity. Do not give up. Trying to give constructive critiscism

yeah this is not really profit oriented for now tbh(thats why im back to grinding), i was quite happy just fiddling and learning a ton about what's up with the web nowadays. seems like those who have the numbers and pageranks dont care about features obviously, and honestly almost everything has been done and everyone's just scrambling to hold on to their members and relying on ads. i am actually going to lose money here coz i plan to get a vps server and give paid members (10bucks lol) ad revshare options and let them post their own adsense codes in the site and their own galleries and categories for their products. honestly craiglist is crap and very unreliable but they are popular so they will have the a ton of ppl. ive already learned adwords is shit for promoting your site but it is cheap and SEO is the way to go since search engines are super smart nowadays and spamming and indexing pages wont do crap, and people who have solid SEO guys who handle that for them will get their sites promoted well.

thanks for the tips guys, i really did feel the site was trying to do everything at the same time poorly, ill try keep it simple and focus more on the site's purpose
