im trying to fry an egg, i put some olive oil in the pan and turned heat to low-mediumish, but the oil was fucking exploding everywhere, as in like, i was scared to get close enough to take the egg out. there was oil landing on the floor 3-4 feet away from the pan.
i have fried eggs before in my life but it has been a while, this has never happened to me before though wtf is going on?

before u put the egg in? mebe left over water/residue (dried soap), usually happens to old pans
i think olive oil is a somewhat delicate oil with a low smoking point, mebe u want to swap to vegetable oil?

nah it was after i put the egg in but it might just be because it wasn't fully heated yet
good point about the residue that could be it, it is an old pan. i know olive oil has a lower smoking point but i've made eggs with it before and it hasn't been a problem.

definitely problem with oil, there are more than one type of olive oil
google some omelette recipes and keep in mind your omelettes need to cook for less than what you think
i've got a fairly good knack at them now =D gogo

some are for salads and some are ok to fry stuff with on lower heat because they will start giving out smoke at a lower temperature..
