Hey all, this will be my introduction to the LiquidPoker community. I have been a lurker on here for quite some time, and have been a very irregular poker player.

The start of my poker "career" came in 2007, when a kid who lived on the same floor at my dorm transferred me $10. Thinking I was a hotshot, I immediately sat down and tried to out think everyone and never gave anyone credit. I soon found myself down to ~$4-5 in my account. So then I decided that I would start reading over the articles here since I had known of the site from my time as a TL lurker.

After doing all the reading, and trying to use the knowledge I gained, I quickly became a winner at 2nl. With about $60 in my account, and a long, long night of drinking under my belt, I sat down at a 50nl table and quickly donked off a BI. Since I couldn't reload, I quit and upset at myself for my lack of control I took a break from poker. With a year break due to school and work, I took another shot at 2nl. I turned my $10 into $50 again within a month of sporadic play, but school and work took over and I had to stop.

Now, I am back and attempting to try and finally conquer 2nl and move up through the ranks. I know my play won't be as constant as I would like, but I do have my mind made up that now is the time that I want to play some poker, so I decided to start up my blog and try and post to get better, even though I know I've missed the peak years.

So here is my graph from the past week:

Even though it's ugly and I've played poorly, I'm still glad that I'm making a little bit of money.

U cant imagine how much money I lost playing drunk, both live and online. But I dont do it anymore

Anyway 10 dollar isnt much for 2NL. I'd say if u have 25 grind it up to 100-150 and start playing 5NL, read alot of articles and analyse alot of hands

I sense that you are a bit too scared with money, which is not a healthy attitude when approaching poker. If you don't mind me asking, are you playing poker as a profession, or as a hobby?

2NL as a profession?

Why not? You gotta start somewhere. I take poker as a profession and I started from NL2 more than a year ago.

Jun: Yeah I know its a small amount starting out, but its all I had in my wallet when I ran into the kid and asked him to transfer me some funds. But that was my plan to try 5nl at $100, and if things didn't work out too well, step down and regain the bankroll and move back up again.

Arirang: I'm currently playing strictly as a hobby. Its something I really enjoy doing, and I can make money from it so it's a win-win in my eyes.

I don't know if its so much that I'm scared with money as much as it is that I was scared with my self-control, which I feel like I've worked on so I don't think I have that problem to the same extent that I once did.

Also, does anyone have any experience with grinderschool.com? I was thinking of trying out a site, and I can't really afford DC or CR or any of the higher tier ones, so I thought that may be worth a shot. I just don't know if it actually is worth the money.

I'd have to put in a lot more volume to consider 2nl as a profession, but I do want to try and look at it with more of a professional attitude. Right now I'm trying to have fun and just make sure I can beat these micro limits.

You don't need any fancy training sites to beat microstakes, let alone a NL2. With really uncreative ABC poker, you should have no problem beating up to NL25 with the BRM of 20BI.

dont rely on sites to get up to like 50nl, and once you are comfortable in 25nl i assume you will be able to afford whatever you want (25 monthly or something is enough isnt it?)

basically if you dont have the drive or determination to post on forums, research things by yourself, and grind it out and figure some things out on your own, you arent going to ever become successful at this. period.

also, just watching videos off the bat can be pretty bad, i mean, its like, i really hope you actually take me seriously here, but "expert advice" can be easily misinterpreted

i mean, its like if i am watching starcraft (im actually not really that familiar with sc2 builds), but say i see a pro game and they do a certain build, but they only did it because the other guy did something that tipped them off, and they knew the other guy knew that they would counter them, so they countered what the other guy thought they were going to do to counter them, i mean, i think this kind of thing can be going on, and for me, all i would really see is the build, and be like "okay, that builds good!" and have no idea what was really going on. i hope that helps, thats why i think you DON'T want to watch videos at first. in addition to whats above.

and yeah, im definitely on board for taking everything seriously all the f'ing time. thats just how i am in everything. theres nothing wrong with that, but in poker, anyway, saying it and doing it are two different things. being honest with yourself, knowing where you truly stand in the grand scheme of things skill-wise is something a lot of people struggle with. you might have noticed just about every poker player claims they run worse than anyone else.. as well, one drunken-or-just-pissed-off-tilt-session costs you a ton of progress, so.. it really takes discipline.
