Chase bank has become the bank for suckers and chumps, cause that's how they treat their customers, like marks to rip off. Being a Chase customer is a constant battle of asking them to remove hidden fees and unapproved charges. I'm done with these crooks, shoulda moved outta their bank after their involvement in causing the recession. Any suggestions on good banks that don't try and rob you for every possible penny they can sneak outta your pocket?

I use bank of america. they've been pretty good. you will get dinged with a "maintenance fee" if your checking account goes under a certain amount of money every month, but other than that I don't get any hidden fees. |

I'd recommend a local credit union for a majority of your banking, the advantages include (hopefully) a higher rate of return on CD's + Savings accounts. Another advantage is it's generally a little easier to get credit through these institutions at a lower rate as well. There is much more 'wiggle' room if you get on your good side of a banker or a bank president, they can really be the ones pushing through a loan when all other banks refuse. Disadvantages would be online features, using an atm downtown or out of the city you're in is tough without getting hit by atm fee's.
Another good choice would be Wells Fargo; you have the advantages of a big bank (they're everywhere now with the merger with Wachovia). You can always find a wells atm, online bill pay for free, super secure site... Another good thing is local branches have adapted a small town bank feel to them, they will learn your name and treat you well. Disadvantage is there isn't much wiggle room even for the bankers of the store managers on pushing through loans; underwriters are very strict. But that is also why WF is one of the only few big banks who didn't get hit hard when the mortgage shit hit the fan, they didn't even need a bail out ffs. So they def are a strong big bank with a lot of benefits; also all their accounts are free.
I'm obvious bias since I work at Wells, I'm sure there are a lot of other decent banks out there as well. I also bank with a small local bank that offers me higher CD rates and higher savings.
My best advice to you is to simply shop around. Can't hurt. It also really helps to go into a bank with a few important things that they need to hit. Convenience? Security? Saving Money? etc etc |

As Svenman stated, shop around. I have had Wells Fargo in two separate countries and its been great for the 14 years or so I've had it o; |
