Almost. An employee looked like he was going to take a swing at me the other day after we got into an argument, so I filed a complaint with HR. Big mistake I guess, because he's best friends with the president of the company. President just called me into his office and chewed me out, saying if I complain or take it any further I'm fired, and that he shoulda let me go 6 months ago (not sure why he didnt then). I wanted to get into it with him but was pretty sure he would have fired me on the spot so I decided to bow out and just stand there getting yelled at. Pretty embarassing since I'm sure some employee's heard it, and office gossip will surely spread it around.

So back to the job hunt for me. At least I'm still employed, but obviously thats just borrowed time. He knows firing me within days/weeks of complaining about another employee would be an instant lawsuit so I figure I have anywhere between 1-6 months before he can get away with it.

Extra sucks that going poker pro is not yet an option for me. Lost 20 BI's in the last 2 days half stacking NL5, not even the worlds biggest heater could save me financially at these limits.

So is there not more value in going true with the complain, and then take him to court if he fire you?

are you joking? out of all the people on this site, i seriously think you should have given poker up a long time ago. There is one other person in mind, but he doesn't seem to be in as desperate a situation. something about poker and your 'type' just doesn't click at all imo. it's not good for you, and seems very detrimental to your psychological well-being. i definitely think you would be a much happier person if you were to quit.

regardless, good luck with the job hunting and everything else.

I am going to relegate the game to a hobby from now on however. If I feel like playing some $50 tourney on sunday, or some NL50 HU on Monday, Keep it fun and look at it as a game, the price of going to dinner or something, with the added benefit that I might actually profit at the end.

i think this would be much more beneficial to you.

My g/f's mother is a lawyer, although she cant practice in my state she has lawyer friends that she could refer me to. I definitely wont be speaking with him privately anymore now that I see how he's going to behave without witnesses. Pretty unprofessional of him, I mean I never threatened to sue the company or even the employee or anything so I'm not sure why he's flying off the handle other than the relationship bias thing.

The altercation was basically an employee calling me to his office for a computer issue, kept interrupting me like an ass and then finally said "i can tell you dont want to help me" and I just responded with "Why did you call me in here?" and he just goes "fuck it, fuck you get the fuck out of my office!". I didnt say a word and just walked out normally, he then goes "hey!" and throws a cd at me. It just bounced off of me but I said "if you ever throw something at me again I'm filing a complaint" and then he jumps up and rushes at me till he's face to face UFC style. At that point I was pretty sure I saw his fist clenched and ready to swing. I just said "are you threatening me?" and he just mumbled like "what, what" or some nonsense. We parted ways so I told my boss that someone might try to hit me and that I'm going to HR about it. I wrote a statement to HR and then you know the rest.

Yeah I play poker at work sometimes but well within the framework of doing my job, i.e. sometimes on my lunch break, sometimes when there isnt shit to do, etc. In fact I havent played at work in awhile because I can only get in like 15 minute sessions before having to take care of something anyway lol. I know the company would fire me for such a thing but I view it as no big deal since I always get my job done, and thats how I'm allowed to work. They just give me assignments and I'm expected to take care of it how best I see fit.

I've been debating the EV of letting myself get fired so I can sue for wrongful termination, which is part of the reason I filed a signed written complaint so that I can prove I complained about a senior employee first and then conveniently got fired. It's all so stressful though I'd rather it just go away. Plus I dont even know how much I could stand to gain while paying lawyer fees and such. As days go on I'll have to seriously consider it.

Yeah he's definitely known as the office douche. In fact during my interview 7 years ago, my boss specifically warned me about him. IMO he's just a huge liability in the office for the things I've heard he's done. Only reason he's employed is because him and the bossman were in the same fraternity + hunting buddies. He's such a disgrace too, he's like deacon of a baptist church or something, and a boyscout leader. Clearly compensating for something.
