lately my sessions are usually only an hour or so long, but i play like 3-4 (sometimes 5) times a day, assuming i have the day free (i.e., no school or big HW coming up)
but what's better, having multiple short sessions or fewer longer sessions?

depends on how good is
A) Your ability to use your rational thought processes fully and for how long you can use it. Conscious rational mind and the ability of self-control is like a muscle, some people can solve newly arising problems for hours, some people like me lose proper self control and attention after 30 minutes.
B) How good and skilled your intuitive processes are. They are not like a muscle, they just are and you can go on for as long as you want and have as many problems arising as you want and it will still keep working fully.
If you trained your unconscious intuitive mind so well that all correct plays are in it and are done automatically then you don't need self-control. As there are always new variables in poker you still need some level of conscious thinking and of self control, but the better your intuition is and the less often you need to consciously adjust your decisions the longer you can play in one session without break and play optimally.
i.e. if you are nanonoko, play 18hour sessions, if you are me, play 30 minute sessions.
My random 100% unconfirmed thought is that when you have strong intuitive processes and they drive your correct decisions then playing longer sessions during the same time of the day is better as you might get your brain trained to activate your unconscious mind that works well in poker for those times.
But when you have to think hard about every decision and you have to control and correct your intuition and your conscious mind dominates your decision making it's better to have many shorter sessions where your conscious mind gets rested. |

i play 1-2 sessions a day atm. usually my sessions are 2-4 hours long. I think its much better for me to have 1 long session, and with no distractions. Because the longer the session the more reads i can develop on the same players, some i wont see again. And because it takes a bit of time to get all your tables running and closing. (gotta wait for bb to come around everytime your closing tables) |

multiple short sessions, particularly ones where you stop if you feel in a bad mood, for sure are going to be better than forcing yourself to grind through tilt |

I've started playing 60-70min sessions instead of 90min sessions, works better for me. Just see what works best for you.
I've noticed that in general, the longer sessions i play, the more i project my own thinking process and play style onto others. |
