I understand how a normal stake works for cashgames, i.e. 50/50 split for x hands with makeup. But what if a player and a staker put up an equal amount of money for the bankroll, what percentage should go to the player?

It's probably better to just ask them to loan you the money and pay a vig/interest on it if you're going to do this.

I could be wrong...but a mate and I did this before and we just treated as 50% of his investment we split 50/50 on...and 50% of my investment I keep...so we did 75/25 for profits...we were both happy

If it's a friend and he's putting in 50% of the bankroll just do a straight 50/50 split.
