Got a new job jigga's. Pay raise, stability, new environment, tons of future potential, many doors opened, best thing to happen in a long time. Which quickly followed the worst thing to happen in a long time, and that was having a PREVIOUS job offer snatched away from me!

I applied for an IT gig at a local hospital, one which was offering a 50% pay increase, slam dunked the interview process, and was made an offer. Then they found out that I had technically lied about my employment history, stating I had worked at my previous company for 8 years when I had really only been there for 7.5. So they disqualified me, after I had already been offered the position and given a start date! Over a 6 month discrepancy in my employment! WTF! I explained it as me simply "rounding up" and that surely 6 months couldnt matter when we're talking about YEARS of employment here, but nope, they were stern and said that was grounds of dismissal. I got fired before I even started. I asked just who the hell was making this decision, because no way was it the actual person hiring me or my future boss's. Nope, just some cock sucker in a suit who I would never see in my life responsible for signing the paychecks. Talk about having the wind knocked out of you, I was pretty depressed. By the way this actually happened on Friday the 13th too lol.

So I applied for another job at a university doing basically the same thing although paying a little less, and got it! And this time no bullshit about failure to qualify or whatever, it's a done deal now. Sucks I wont be making as much, but it's only like a 15% difference which I'm fine with, and I'd rather work for higher education than the healthcare industry anyway.

So life is looking good again for once. Be able to get back into some live pokerz, do more shit on the weekends, go on some vacations, pay off some credit cards, basically whatever. Oh yeah, also bought an ipad last week, lovin in. And am moving into a new condo with cheaper rent, free water, better electricity bills, and a fireplace as an upgrade, so now I'll be making money while I make money. Now all I have to do is not die in a fiery car crash between now and then.... or the next 60 years preferably.

Congrats. That's pretty funny that they disqualified you for stating you had 8 years experience instead of 7.5.

NeillyJQ: I really wanted to prove to myself I could beat NL200, I did over a small sample, and believe Ill be crushing there in the future.

Yeah.. I mean, 7.5yr to 8yr.. err...did you really have to "lie" about that. It's so petty that it's really not worth "lying" about. Maybe you did it harmlessly without thinking too much about it, but you generally want your resume to be pretty damn transparent since you know, you are submitting it to those who are going to hand you the cheque. But whatever. You learn from your mistakes, you got nice new job, new place and a trendy little iPad. Good life inc +__+

inb4 recruiter is a LP lurker and somehow found you and read your blogz :DDDD

Well the reason I lied was because the job required at least 8 years of experience, so I was like "fuck it, 6 months doesnt mean shit" so just put 8 years down. The recruiter was then all like "well you falsified information" and got uptight with me. In fact, I kinda louded her out and just said "what a waste of everyone's time over something so ridiculous, you're telling me you're going to make them choose some other candidate they dont even want, their 2nd best, over me? Because of 6 months?" She then called back and said I cant apply for future positions for another year lol.

bye now

Well your logic is sound, your reasoning over the phone was horrific. You still can get the job easily if you are actually their "perfect" fit, you have to hammer upper management. And in fact upper management if they are competent at all will see your drive/effort/not giving up and want you even more.

I have learned from poker that being at the table is not a grind, the grind is living and poker is how I pass the time

Yeah thats an interesting thought. If I had more multi-job experience I might have been better prepared to tackle curve balls like this. I mean I hadn't interviewed in the last 8 years... err I mean 7.614.

Oh man you handled that really poorly LOL.

If 8 years was what was required, you shoulda left it at that, and once the interview was done, they like you and everything, you should've told them the truth and show your initiative, dedication and the drive to want this job. They would've been impressed and you likely would've ended up with that job.
