warning: endless rant made unreadable

lol, anyone else having trouble using this shit? I uploaded a shit ton of pictures, but it randomly decides which ones I can and cant delete. Half of them somehow ended up in these albums, others appear to be in albums yet it's not really treating them like albums and thus I cant manage them, even though they show up under the general albums category, certain options are selectively missing from one picture to the next. They all show up with random fuckin sizes like google is trying to be all cute tiling your photos artistically across your screen and shit. I decided to go through and start deleting them one by one since that was the only fucking way to actually make sure some pics were gone, and I got a little google+ popup asking if I wanted to be prompted "are you sure?" every single time or not. So I unchecked the prompt, which has now made it impossible to delete ANY pictures. See without the prompt it just assumes a default NO option is being chosen, rofl. Goddamn this entire platform is such fucking fail. You cant PM anybody, instead you just post messages on your "stream" and have to choose who can see it. Wtfsrsly google? The mobile app is complete trash. It shows thumbnails in my gallery that I dont even have on my phone anymore, and when I click on them to remove it it just throws an error because obviously the file doesnt exist anymore, but I cant get rid of the goddamn thumbnail, so now my google+ mobile gallery is littered with random garbage making it impossible to navigate through.

I think the real problem has to do with my perception of what Google+ is really supposed to be. Even google themselves havent clearly defined the purpose. Most everyone assumed it was squarely targeted at facebook, and largely it looks like it is. I hate facebook. I think the UI is crap, and their business model even more crap. I only created a facebook account after years of ignoring it when it was suggested it might be useful for professional purposes, sort of having a presence on the internet so to speak. You know, networking and all that stuff. But it still just seems like a hipsters paradise, everyone piling on as many junk friends and random people as possible in some sort of popularity contest.

Anyway, I was hoping this little fad would die out, and that G+ would introduce people to seriously having their own little personal social networks of people they actually talk to. Instead g+ is recommending you spam yourself with so many fuckwits and circles for no other reason than to give yourself a reason to have an account. Now it looks more like it's geared to be some sort of twitter on steroids. But people like twitter for its simplicity. If you honestly give a shit about the day to day affairs of some stranger on the internet, then all you really want to see is some quick blurb about it. G+ isnt exactly convenient for this. If you want to have social networks with lots of picture sharing, well facebook already has that market, and google isnt really doing much to entice people to come over.

As for these bugs, im not sure if it's just google trying to dodge patent suits, or just some miserable failure to implement common sense features. One thing I really hate is Google's abstinence towards "deleting" things. They much prefer the term "remove". So for instance, after deleting a bunch of my pictures, it turns out they're still all stored in some massive archive of random shit referred to as nothing more than "pictures from posts". Duplicates, random blurry pics, everything is still in there. Whats worse, these pictures arent technically hosted by google+, they are hosted by their sister tech called Picasa Web or something. This is frustrating because picasa has an entirely different scheme for managing your photos. The phone app itself is straight up bugged. I have to reboot in order to get it to behave properly on my phone, so I'm basically done using that for now as it's understandable there are issues.

But the g+ website itself still seems severely flawed imo. Yeah yeah yeah it's a "beta". Bullshit, this is basically how the platform is going to look. This beta allows you to invite anyone who then can also invite anyone. It spread too quickly and invites were too easy to get to actually consider this some closed beta. I mean everyone basically assumes it was a cheap attempt to build some phony exclusivity anyway so I'm satisfied that I've given g+ a fair shot, and that it fails. Not miserably, I mean it would have been an amazing product if there werent already several other competitors there first, doing the same thing, BETTER.

I'll check out google+ next year once it has evolved....

like you said, it's in beta man...

you'd be amazed if you compared the current facebook, to even the facebook 2 years old. not even the same thing. not that that's saying much, i think fb is over-hyped anyway
