Hello LP, some of you guys might remember my name from TL and if you do then sup dude you're one of the few TL 'veterans' :D
I've already watched quite a few poker coaching videos, but even tho that i'm running really bad, i sure that i'm missing way too many spots and that i probably give too much credits to my opponents. Most of the videos that i watched were something like 2years old, but do you guys believe that micro stakes really changed since then or does theres a specific series i should watch again and try to find out if i missed any key information?
list of the videos that i have watched so far: MicroStakes Strategy by frosty012 (this one is free and legal since it's on his blogspot), and all the following series from DeucesCracked: Coaching Kristy season1, Real Life Micro NL-Grinder: Unlimited Texas Hold Them, From The Ground Up!, Moving on Up Full Ring.
Can you guys suggest me any really good 6max micro stakes video coaching series that would help me improve more? and if not anything specific, which website between deucescracked/bluefirepoker/cardrunners/dragthebar/leggopoker has the best coaches or content for 6max micro stakes NLHE and should i pay 30$/month for it or should i just focus on applying what i learned already from the videos i've seen?
One last thing, everyone keeps saying that the most important thing in micro stakes poker is value betting.. but since i almost never get to go to showdown when i hit monsters or good pair.. should i keep betting nearly pot on flop and turn (depending on stack sizes of course.. if he's not 100blinds deep i would bet less) or even people playing NL2 have an idea of bet sizes and therefore won't call 90% pot cbet but would call 70%/65%?
also tell me if i should post any HEM graphics that would help you finding out something that i'm doing wrong.
thanks

For most top pair type hands, just keep betting 80-90% pot. As long as you get as much value from early streets as possible and set up for a shove.
Obviously there are other spots where you can just value the bloody hell out of someone. Say the board is Jd5h6d7d8s and you have AdKd and the pot is only 15bb....feel free to just jam your 100bb stack in there. If they have a straight they're not folding very often and you make way more than you would have by betting 12bb
For the most part, just keep betting big when you have hands and checking/folding when you don't...I'm finding micros not very hard right now. (I just started recently, should be moving up soon) |

Dont overthink the whole thing. The micros are beatable with basic ABC-Poker. Dont get too much into advanced strats yet that are advertised in some of the videos imo. Its like casting pearls before swine.
Just get a feel for the general micro donk and pick your spots. As you said, keep value betting: 70%-80% pot will get you there. Fold to fishs aggression. Remember 99% of the players just dont have the skillset to do super tricky bluffs on you. They play their cards and click buttons accordingly. So show respect to huge check-raises etc. Adjust ofcourse if that happens too often. Take notes of the fish and try to find out what kind of player he is (Passive? Maniac?).
Tableselect wisely. There are tons of uber NIT-bots on the micros and thus some tables are not as profitable.

You need to play few tables and focus on reads. A good habit to have is to keep the replayer open and write down notes on villains even how insignificant you think it they are. Although you probably won't play against most of the players again because of the huge player base it will get you in the right mindset as you move up. Note stuff like betsizing, 3b range if he is a loose passive or a crazy aggro you should try and get a decent feel of all the players at your table.
Remember that most people don't make big bluffs at these stakes (definetely some exceptions) just sometimes desperation bluffs.
I personally think Leggopoker has the most value for money for 6max nlhe with a great lineup (maybe not microstakes idk). |

read this book. i know most of the people here will laugh at me for suggesting this but this book is pretty good and has helped me a lot. i know people laugh at sklansky's theories nowadays cos a lot of the elite online pros have come out with their own theories.
but some of the theories in this book still applies to the games today. but as you go along you have to tweak some of those theories to complement your style of play.
from to time against aggro players it is better to take passive lines. in the games i play sometimes it is good to just c/c all the way with top pair decent kicker. but you got to have reads tho. so take notes on your opponents' play. also if you can, do not use a hud. it skews your decision making. well for me at least, that's the case. i stopped using the hud for over a year now. and it has helped the intuition part of my game a lot, which for me is more important than knowing how to read all the stats.
good luck.
