Day 1 in the books, played about 12 hours today today (my definition of a day is slightly off). Broke it up into 4 different sessions, one break for breakfeast, one for gym, one for snack and then one because I got a little tired. Still getting used to putting in so many hours and sometimes my mind just trails off and starts to spin way to fast from seeing so many damn 4 card combinations and thinking to much. Also my effective stacks at the tables get pretty big so I need to take either an hour break to let some new tables get started or take a 2 hour break so I can join tables without old stacks. Still trying to find an optimal day schedule but I am thinking something like 17 hours awake/7 sleeping everyday with 12-15 hours dedicated to playing and the other for gym/breaks should work out well. I also have a self motivating prop bet where I have to put on 10lbs of muscle this month so have been working out pretty hard and upped my supplement intake. Next summer Joe will be very very happy that this winter Joe played so many damn hours/made money and worked out hard in the gym hopefully.
I actually had the mindset today for a bit that I should try to win some money but it honestly requires so much mental power that I get burnt out after maybe 1.5 hours of doing this and simply need to drop tables or sit out for a few minutes and walk around. I think my overall abililty to play more hours/hands per day with a fresher mind outweighs the thinking more and trying to squeeze out a few extra 50 cent BBs. When I start moving up though the impact becomes greater on my bottom line so I will have to rethink this strategy. I honestly think I could just play PLO50 and win this prob bet but it would be a legit 15-16 hour/day grind when I will need to average 250k vpps the last 2 months. Im hovering around 550-700 VPPs/hr depending on time of the day, when I get back up to playing 1/2 and 2/4 that number is increased by more then double if I stay with 24 tables so most likely I will aim for 1k/1.2k VPP/Day and adjust number of tables accordingly
Been grinding out Dexter Season 5 last few days too, almost caught up to where it is now and then will have to move on to some other shows. Watching tv shows/movies is helping me pass the time, I never really used to do that while playing but most of the time I was actually trying (and failing sometimes) to play well and semi-focus on the games.
Need to sleep and wake up to do it all over again now

this is seriously the dumbest prop bet ever. if you fail not only will lose you 15k but you will lose god knows how much money playing because you play horrible playing 15 hours a day 24 tabling plo. why not try to actually get better at omaha and just put in a good amount of hours to get to like 500k vpp instead of barely making money after getting rakeback and bonuses back.
seriously omaha is not like NL. you can 16-24 table nl and be like a 1-2ptbb winner. omaha you need to focus to win and if you look at the difference between being a -2ptbb rakeback grinder and being a 4ptbb winning game selector/grinder then youd probably think twice about this method of play.
i guess if you are pretty sure youll make it to SNE its an ok idea but man you are really putting lots of time and hours into something that you could get a much bigger return if you played good rather than mindless roboting your way through it. put your dedication to use man |

I mentioned something about that in my original blog post for the prop bet Daut. The first 2 months after relocating I have been trying to do that exactly, play less tables/game select, focus more and overall the results haven't been what I wanted pretty much due to tilting off in certain spots with the slow paced action. I was like yea I can be a 3/4ptbb winner playing 6-8 tables and be fine with that but for some reason thats just not something I could adjust to and my bankroll was taking a hit. I was also being pretty lazy when it came to playing (lazy in like 6 hours/day). I'm not really sure what I am going to do after Canada, might stay back in USA for a bit and just kind of take it easy. If I can be successfull with this prop and get sne it will be about 135k in a 2.5 month time span with not much variance at all. I might lose 5-10k playing but that is the cost of doing buisness essentially. There is absolutely no way I would be able to make that sort of money variance free but playing higher stakes. I'm not doing anything else with my time so why not challenge myself and do something wild. Some people play poker to be challenged or get the heart pumping and this is what does it for me I guess.
I wouldn't make this bet if I didn't think there was a 99.9 percent chance I could make it to SNE as well, |

well if you will make it then it is good for you to at least have the 5x multiplier for next year, but coming from someone who had a ftp deal and tried to maximize rakeback in low variance ways instead of maximize profits for a few years now, i wish i did the opposite during that time period.
and even 6-8 tables in plo is a lot. its very hard to think through all decisions when playing more than 4 i find. after a certain point adding more tables doesnt hurt you and you probably are better off playing 15 than 6, but you are much better off playing 4 than 6.
i do understand that it takes a lot of concentration to play less tables and does burn you out faster. i have found as well that my time playing increases as my # of tables increases as well, but my god my winrate skyrocketed when i started playing less tables, and with a higher winrate comes less variance at higher stakes and higher potential profits. i think if we try to learn from anyone on this site it should be longple who was successful as a masstabling rakeback grinder, but really turned it into big profits when not doing so.
even if you never make the switch and always stay a rb grinder, id suggest that after this challenge is over you probably spend at least a few hours a week playing a few tables rather than mass tabling to try and build some new muscle memory up and improve your overall game.

Sorry to shit in your cereal, but this is not possible unless you're juicing/using HGH. Ya, you can put on 10 lbs in a month no problem, but there's no way it's gonna be muscle, or even half muscle. |
