I love hearing his interpretation of what powers were intended for and what the constitution permits the federal government to do...but he worships total and absolute free markets like it's jesus christ. I think he would have been amazing as the president if elected in 2000 with a budget surplus. I think he could have taken the united states to a whole new level economically. I don't think he's the reliever you call in when your 14 trillion in debt. He's right on a lot of the budget cuts that need to happen, but the ones he chooses to make a public display are social security, department of energy, the EPA etc and it's because he's not popular among the core of his party so he has to appeal to the bullshit his party can agree on. It's like philosophically he believes in cutting the shit outta the department of defense, but he can only say that in so many words and he can't campaign policy very well because his party completely disagrees with him.

I guess I should answer this somewhat since I'm sitting on the frontpage with my Herman Cain blog entry so long plus I woke up an hour early to go to work and I realize twice now that your playing this omgwtf trololol Ron Paul card. I just didn't bother earlier because I don't see the transition you have from wow I love this guy to omg wtf very well at all so I figured the love would triumph for you. Seeing you post later against Ron Paul when he wasn't even mentioned shows that I assumed incorrectly so..

I do not see how you think applying Ron Paul and a small federal government ideology would be a great addition when there is a budget surplus verses applying that ideology or role of government as a very bad idea when massively in debt. That seems like a very backwards perspective which to my outlook gives credence to you could just very well be undermining and playing dress up really well with the Ron Paul is whacky zaney kooky card - the only card that still works amongst zZzZz masses

- you admit that alot of budget cuts need to happen

- you admit or insinuate that based off the rule of law, the federal government is at the very least over reaching

- Ron Paul's proposal is not cutting out social security. with the social security part of the program, he is giving the young the option to opt out and going to insure the ppl within the program get their money. this does not force social security to be repealed or to implemented in any way. it instead in time gives the future to social security to the young generation. how you insult this when you state the previous things is beyond me

- The programs picked are some of the most dangerous and blatantly inefficient federal programs ever. the federal government has no business in the department of energy. Do you actually think that if we cut the department of energy there will be no one or nothing to provide energy sources within America? Seriously the federal government does nothing but hamper this nations energy productivity. All the DoE is, is a federal bureaucracy. It doesn't productively create squat.

- you also forgot to add the department of interior to the list, as well as the department of education and the points I said about the DoE apply to these programs too

- Ron Paul has also stated a few times that the important parts of the program will be absorbed into other federal agencies

- more than that, Ron Paul has stated numerous times he has zero interest in cutting defense. did you know that the Department of Defense used to be called the Department of War? Changing it's name to the current one was an ingenious move as it blinds so many ppl to when it is rebuked or looked at in a negative light. When criticism happens, people auto-assume that what's being attacked it the nation's security instead of perhaps the pre-emptive aggression and oppression. I bring this up because this is what Ron Paul is a big advocate in scaling back, not defense, but the military industrial complex. He has stated numerous times he has zero interest in cutting defense. Defense is infinitely important for a sovereign country

- furthermore, yes there is a big divide in the GOP today and that divide is because of foreign policy. You are correct in seeing that but you are incorrect in saying that his party completely disagrees with him. if this was the case there would be no divide and no Ron Paul gaining a huge amount of momentum within the Republican party

(btw, here is Ron Paul's restore America 2012 plan in a .pdf file - it's 11 pages)
