Hey guys, this is just a personal project of mine, if you're going back to your studies or working part time, then take a look at it and their might be an entry that might help you out.

Feel free to pass it on to other mid-stake guys who maybe couldn't make the move abroad and are looking at options.

I had a blog similar to it on TL, but it was deleted and this one is related directly to players taking time off.

Cheers,
Dave

Wow. What a fucking great blog. If only I could've read that before i started my business I think I could have been significantly better off.

As the articles say: I'm a sick business fish. And even if i knew it going in I was too cocky cuz "i had sick cash flow making my $200 per hr " or what not. I didn't do enough due diligence and got owned. A lot of what you wrote there i completely agree with and I definitely learned a lot.

Respect.

Thanks a lot for this. I've had everyone and their mother (literally) giving me their 2 cents on this situation. Luckily, I have access to some good sources and feel I am good at ignoring all the noise but this looks really informative and focused and tailored in a way that I don't have access to.

Love US Apprentice. Will definitely check out UK Apprentice/Dragon's Den. Have you seen Shark Tank?

I actually already got the advice from 5+ sources to just watch the business channel, read the paper, read forbes/fortune and google anything I don't understand but it's nice to see that opinion echoed in your blog (plus didn't know about fast company).

I would like to catch up on a lot of that stuff before going further with your blog so this may already have been answered but since I'll be at the library and you were an english lit/philosophy major what books would you write down on a piece of paper and post on the fridge if you were to have your mind erased tomorrow?

(I know point 4 was there was no point but i'm talking more "useful" and/or "enjoyable/stimulating" rather than "business." Personally, I learned infinitely more about poker reading kant, sartre, dostoevsky than sklanksy, malmuth, harrington and would say the latter was actually damaging long term).

Hey Dave, once again, great stuff. Glad to see your blog back on a working site too.

One suggestion though - I know you have things separated in tags but even then it's a bit hard to navigate through your posts. It's mostly because each one of your posts is so long that it involves a lot of clicking and scrolling to find posts. I think WordPress should have some built-in features to organize your posts better. Especially since you seem to churn out blog posts pretty rapidly, I think a list or archive feature would definitely help out.

and I'll write more indepth on the comments later, I'm waiting for my allergy medication to kick in so things are a bit blurry for the moment (I've never had such bad alergies in my life before coming to melbourne!)

I've put up the post for 7 books, and I've never seen Shark Tank, and the books are all business books but one, but they are the best of the best books in business. I basically stopped reading fiction years and years ago, but reading biographies do it for my social reading nowadays, but check those books out first.
Cheers,
Dave
