nl2 people are calling you down with everything here.
Just bet bet bet your good hands, that is all you have to do.
pf is good, bet 20 on flop then put him allin on turn.
Dont try to overthink at nl2, just play your good hands strong that is all, 150% ABC poker is the way to go.
Your nl2 FR stats should be around 14/12, be a huge nit, no one will ever notice anyway. That is the fastest and easiest way to move up, i dont think you'll find anyone anywhere that would advice you something different that what I just told you. |

When I play my good hands like that, I have huge downswings.
I'm playing pretty solid when I only play sets, flushes and sometimes 2 pairs. Top pairs are huge downswings for me
Thanks for the tip to play 14/12.

If you want to beat NL2 you can't be doing these half pot/less then half pot bets. Bet 3/4 pot minimum every time you bet. Value, value, value
Reason top pair is a downswing for you is because you overvalue it. NL2 players will call with lots of crap, but they aren't going to raise too often without something that beats your top pair. |

This hand is actually well played. But your reasoning and the fact that you ask what to do on the river is incorrect.
When you are starting out if you think they will call with worse more than 50% of the time, value bet close to pot. If you don't think that, check fold, sometimes check call. Hand strenght in poker is very relative to the actions prior, board and your opponent and sometimes you fold top2pair and sometimes you shove 2nd pair.
In this hand the hands he can have are weak weak aces, Tens, and pocket pairs - his range (combination of cards he can have) is weak and top pair top kicker is good against it. Because he never folds Ace or Ten you can just go with it worst case scenario you are at around 50% equity |
