1. 3betting this hand oop vs 2 players is not profitable at micro stakes,
2. Your 3bet size is pretty bad, because you are giving them super good pot ods to call.
Nice hand tho! |

calling 55% of his stack preflop is super good odds to call?
Ajs is behind a 15bb 60vpip fish's flatting range?
If anyhing I can be betting flop+turn here tho |

i like your rr and play, nothing that can really call a flop bet wont bet itself anyway and you let lesser hands catch up or villains bluff |

i also think 3betting AJs is a mistake albiet a marginal/small one. i'd prob 3bet AJo alot though. AJs just plays too damn well to 3bet/play with stronger range. I also think 3betting 9-10 bb is more standard, esp if it's for value like you're saying it is. |

You guys are just looking at it backwards, so AJo is a worse hand than AJss so I wanna build up the pot with AJo and not AJss, makes no sense.
3betting AJss here is better than AJo for 2 reasons:
1. It plays better when called
2. You have much less combos of it, meaning you bluff less and probably in the right frequency now |

thanks for the insights. and i'm not a big fan of responding back to strong posts, but i'm not sure how much that applies to stakes with 5% 3 bets.
imho ppl are more likely to 4bet/fold.
also as a follow up question, pretty fuckign basic but i have no clue, do you fold, call, 3bet AJo oop to an utg raise? |

I fold most of the time in any position besides BB and BTN where I call. I'd only 3b if it was a great spot to do it but not as a standard. |

1.3b'ing AJo vs AJs is merely a way to protect yourself from strong hands right? So when we call with AJs we aren't calling to hit hands like top pair, we are trying to hit straights and flushes and win massive pots. While AJo is just trying to 3b/fold vs opponents that play straight forward and will 4b AK/QQ+. Although we will run the risk of some strong hands being flatted sometimes and get crushed when we play for stacks. Mostly we protect ourselves from getting dominated when we play this way, and we should be able to recognize players that will flat stronger ranges.
2. Also although AJs has 5% more equity and in theory will play better, we are trying to play it in a way to realize all of it's equity. Whereas AJo has much less equity to realize as it won't flop as many draws as AJs. So fast playing you risk the potential to lose it's added value.
3. The number of combos and our bluffing frequency shouldn't factor in here. We should be building balanced ranges so no matter if we are using offsuit hands that have a ton of combos our range should still contain the same number of bluff combos whether this hand is used or not. (FWIW my range vs UTG here is 3.3% 3b, 6-22 value to bluff combos, AJs/o is auto 3b here for me)
Thoughts? I can ramble abit so hopefully that made sense. |
