Pot against a decent reg, 29/21/5 over 52 hands. How does anyone feel about checking back scary flop for pot control. He's definitely capable of double barreling with 2nd pair for ex on river and c/r flop, although he may choose to bet bigger on river if doing so? I think I played turn and river fine as played after checking back flop. How do you play flop here vs a villain capable of c/r this board. |

Can someone explain what's so bad about my line here in this specific situation? I'm sure you can arguments for both cbetting flop and checking back this board. |

but checking back this flop is quite bad for our hand.
alot of his range can connect with this flop and can improve drastically with further cards to come (at least through more cards than our hand). so we have to cbet when checked to, to protect.
if we get x/r on this flop we might have to lay it down already.
with his bet sizing its okay to call him down i guess but the flop i would play differently (i think he would have check raised the flop unless he is ultra passive and then i would fold already) |

Bet the flop. As played, I'd probably raise the turn for value against his range, calling is fine though.
You lost the minimum so be happy. |

Didn't want to play a big pot with this guy. Much better spots on the table |

You did well in recognizing the coordinated flop. Your AA is still ahead of most of what he has and doesn't really like to see a 7,8, Q or K fall on the turn. It would be optimistic to get 3 streets of value but 2 is reasonable. If you are going to check somewhere i'd suggest it be turn. Betting flop has value in getting calls from pairs and draws, thus betting isn't terrible. If you really want FPS to you can fold on the turn or river if he goes apeshit. |
