you are getting ~ 3 to 1 on the call so i think you are okay, unless he can only have boats, and i doubt that is the case at 2nl

Thanks. Wanted to make sure this wasn't a mistake. I think AK AQ AT would probably play like this too right? Including bluffs. JJ/AA would probably have raised pre (right?) so it's not very weird to call the allin. Please correct me if im wrong.

New player, advice appreciated

why do you think AK/AQ would play like this, that makes absolutely no sense. he could however have JT/T9/maybe some other Tx like T8s or something. also it's his big blind so there's at least a small chance players at 2nl will just spazz the fuck out w/ whatever.

anyway you can't be super happy when he shoves but like chris said you're getting 3-1 and you should be good enough to make calling okay.

AQ would have raised the flop (and not raised river) and AK would have raised pre as well as the turn, is that what you mean? When i look at this more closely i understand that aq ak wouldnt have played like this, thanks for pointing it out.

Also is the bet sizing ok?

no, i mean it makes no sense for him to check-shove river with AK/AQ since he would be turning his hand into a bluff (actually there could be an argument for turning AQ into a bluff but it's really unlikely he would and probably a bad idea anyway). there's no reason AQ has to raise flop or AK has to raise turn. AK might 3-bet preflop but it's also fine to flat so that's not a reason to exclude it from his range. the fact that shoving river with those makes little sense is the reason you exclude those hands.

turn bet should be a little bigger, otherwise betsizing looks okay.

fwiw i think river could be close to a fold, if it was at say 100nl i think it's definitely a fold. the problem is a lot of us haven't played these stakes for a long time so we remember what they played like 4-5 years ago and remember how much random stupid shit people did. even though it's easy to tell from the hand histories posted that the games have changed a lot and the players aren't quite as horrible these days, in spots like this we are still essentially assuming they are bad enough to either misjudge the value of their hand (most likely) or make some crazy brainless bluff (maybe once in a while) for you to call here. just something to keep in mind when reading replies.

Bet more on turn, easier call on river as well then

If turn would have been a random low card instead, would I still cbet turn? And in that case should I have a higher bet sizing than here then?

New player, advice appreciated
