How do I deal with shortstacks in situations like this.

if you're not going to put him allin preflop, then check/fold this flop. don't bluff shortstacks, and don't read small bets from them as weakness. remember, they're sitting with a little bit of money for one of two reasons:

either
1. they are scared to lose more money than they sat with, or
2. they want you to pay them off because you don't have much to lose vs. them

in both cases, when they bet small it's not a sign that they're going to fold. it means they are inducing you to put them allin.

Thanks, Myth, That seems good advice, and I think dealing with short stacks is a big leak in my game.
