I guess it's time for "the talk".
You really should be including stats or any reads that you have, and if you don't have them, get them, ASAP.
Any time you are in a marginal situation, you can use these stats or reads to make superior plays than you otherwise could.
For example, if this guy 3bets wide, I'd rather 4bet/get it in 100bb's deep OOP. If he 3bets tight, I'd rather call or fold preflop, try to hit a set(if he gives me odds) or hope he's a straightforward nit and checks down his whiffed AK.
On this specific flop, I'd probably peel a turn card, just because our equity versus his (assumed)range is decent, and we are getting good pot odds(you should always calculate your pot odds for every decision).
If the guy only 3bets AA/KK, a flop fold is of course the best course. But if we include AK in his 3bet + 3bet flop cbetting range, our equity goes up quite a bit. If we include suited connectors/whatever in his preflop range, folding this flop would be a mistake unless our opponent is some great player(99% he's not). |

thanks for the reply, given me some things to think about. its difficult to have any idea when you get started whether folding here is e.g. completely unacceptable or completely standard. i feel like i am bleeding money when i fold, bleeding money when i call and calling a flop OOP feels even worse! but like you said if we can try to note the sort of hands he plays preflop then this might be a great spot to call the flop. very tough to know what to lean towards though... lean towards being a huge preflop nit oop? towards checkcalling? hard to know!!! |

maybe you are getting in too many spots if you feel like every move is bleeding money. normally just folding is a better mistake to make than spewing. but if you are calling a lot of 3bets OOP and then check/folding or check/calling and folding turn then even folding is also a problem because you are calling bets with no plan to win. what i am saying is if you feel you have no way forward it means you're making mistakes earlier
his bet doesn't look like overpair strong from a fish so in hindsight it looks like maybe you misjudged his range. if you don't know what to do vs him it's okay to fold pre. you can't ONLY check/fold when you don't flop a set after calling a 3bet OOP with a pocket pair that's quickly losing
if it was 268 would you have bet? did you think he hit the T |

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen | |

Get a Hud. for zoom it is so important to get a HUD. Although you can see whether the villain is a reg by checking no of tables played (this is so useful) and whether a mobile user etc, you have no way of differentiating whether they are a 11/8, 2% 3bet reg playing very tight or a 24/21 10% 3bet reg.
As for the situation at hand, vs anon this is a peel. at the .02/.05 and .05/.1 limits people tend to cbet flop, give up turn a tonne, and do not double barrel unless they have serious equity. The line id take is call, and if checked to on turn bet smallish to fold out ak/aq etc (or check if you think they play jj/qq this way)
If you intend to play like this, 99 should be a fold pre. If this is a reg, he will usually not get stacked if he perceives you as a reg. The good regs realise that all you have to do to smash the micros is fold a tonnne, as regs will always always be value heavy and do not balance ranges. A big raise at these stakes from a reg is 95% for value, so we can abuse him by folding where we shouldn't at higher limits and he will never re adjust (like better players would). |

i have PT trial thanks. but i think it takes a while to kick in. ive been making a note on every stack that is below 100BB coz thats probably a good indicator of who is solider player (and you wont know if they win a pot and go 100BB+ when you next see them)
ill see what equilab is like i hope its like sealab + Show Spoiler +
thanks for comments
