i used to not have a 3bet range vs utg. i actually do have one now. i just chose not to 3bet this time. i also had a feeling bb might do something like this if i just called. probably 80% of the time bb either calls or folds and this doesn't work, but every once in a while something like this happens and i can win a stack ... i have another spot i did this recently where i flat utg open from SB @ 2k and bb makes it 300 then i just ship 2k on him and he tank called AQ. |

The reason I chose to go back to having one has to do with the width of an average regulars opening range from UTG nowadays. Back 2 years ago I would open something like 14-16% UTG. If everybody opened this tight, it would not make a whole lot of sense to have a 3bet range. Nowadays I feel comfortable opening as wide as 20%. Most regs are opening at least 18%. Versus this range, it just makes more sense to 3bet sometimes. |

what kind of other hands are in your flat/4bet range? seems like a spot that's tough to balance, we always have KK/AA when we do this? |

In anonymous games you can prob get away with it. When you flat, BB 3b and UTG calls that is just such a sweet spot holding kk you are printing because to some you looked capped from having the nut hand you are actually holding. Because of this initial misperception that is making us so much money it doesn't further matter if we are balanced. He figures he has a good chance of beating our best hands anyways even if we aren't 'light' or bluffing |
