Was it fine to check and see the river card for free? or should i semi-bluff more?

check is fine. even with how ridiculously scary that board is for a guy with just a pair of kings, he still called.
you can answer these questions yourself by thinking it through. ill try and teach you a tiny bit by going through the thought process of why the check is fine.
What is the purpose of a bet here? Do you think they will fold? Are you just trying to mask your draw if it hits?
Well, obviously they arent going to fold. they are fish with top pair! they never fold top pair.
Do you need to mask your draw? nope! they will still call bets even if it hits!
So theres absolutely no advantages to you betting at the turn. Also, they might be planning a checkraise with their set of 10s. Check is the right play.

Bet on flop gave you a free card at turn while you didn't hit.
When in position like that, it's great to check behind.
