wp, anything in particular make you call pf vs 4 bet?

I don't think he will call AQo against my 4bet when we start to be this deep. If so the value of 4betting AKo drops dramatically, and it puts me in tough bluffcatching situations against min 5bets. I also believe I have a better understanding of board textures and how these regs play. Here for example he was representing a very narrow range on the turn and river because he doesn't 3bet J9s SB vs CO and doesn't barrel off TT+ on the turn. I don't think he would always bet quads either, I mostly expect a check with these. It was more a situation where he had a few natural bluffs and felt obligated to bet with them. I called river because this is a player that tries to bluff optimally (and in some spots he does it well), but this is the kind of spot where most of these guys who always try to find enough bluffs tend to fail miserably at being balanced. Not having the spades blocker is the most important aspect here (especially having Ks would make this hand a snap fold), and AdKd would be the best bluffcatcher in this situation after hands like 7x and trips.

Hey really appreciate the insight. And I haven't played poker at a high level in years, but don't you have a capped range? In his eyes isn't triple barreling TT+ pretty safe since you would 4 bet QQ+ for value here?

ClouD87   Italy. Aug 29 2016 21:26. Posts 524

My range has more nuts than his. I have quads 77 TT fulls and many trips in my range. Betting turn with overpairs is ok but most people will check because betting out of position leads to very difficult river decisions.

how do you know about him not having 9xs sb vs co deepish? is his 3b range linear no matter the stack depth?

new shit has come to light... a-and... shit! man...Last edit: 29/08/2016 22:59

I think he has a few 9xs, just not enough to support his turn/river bluffs. Big blind is a winning regular, SB is not going to start coldcalling QTs and JTs to a 2.5x open and 3bet Q9s and J9s instead. I think he would rather start to dig a little deeper with his suited connectors and pocket pairs, which would give him a couple more turn bluffs if anything.

technically if he's bluffing KsQs on this runout he should probably bet bet shove overpairs, not just 9x

Why would you rather catch with 7x than AK? You think he bluffs with some hands better than AK but worse than 7x like 22-33? You rather block 79/77 (he even 3betting the pairs 22-77 at a significant frequency?) Than AA/KK (or does he never triple those) and maybe a9/k9 if 3bet?

ClouD87   Italy. Aug 30 2016 02:13. Posts 524

Player profile is reg who is always concerned about bluffing enough. Most of the times he does it ok but this is a spot where he has very few valuebets on the river and is very likely to overbluff with blockers and being optimistic about his value range. I would rather bluffcatch with 7x because it blocks 77 and 97s(if he 3bets that. not certain). Ace kings aren't really equal in this spot because we really don't want hearts and spades here, because they don't block any trips. Calling with AK is an exploitative call because we can find enough bluffcatchers on the river without being forced to call ace high. I don't think anybody will ever triple AA KK here. Most of the times even fishes won't.

I guess I'm stuck in 2008 if now people don't 3 barrel aces and kings in reraised pots on the safest board ever
