Well it depends of the situation but it was heads up and i had position with big reraise pf, i put him on smaller pair or set so either he had me already or he had 2 outs. i didn't want to get checkraise on turn cuz we were kinda deep and i suck at folding hands so i wanted to keep the pot in control.
Also check on turn could seem like AK miss and it would induce a bluff from him like it did there.
But my main concern was him hitting his set and trapping on the turn. Checking there in position let me keep control.
