Is this too nitty of a fold vs this overbet jam? Villain is a nit reg with 17/13/6.3 stats.
I'm only beating AK here and occasionally a chop. I have weak draws with a potentially dominated gutshot and BD flush also.
He probably should be betting his whole range here but with him being nitty I didn't think he would be jamming AK IP.
Also is it best to check this kind of flop or cbet? |

I ran it through equilab and I still have ~40% equity vs his non AK range so I guess I should call with these pot odds. |

unless he 3bets these positions a lot, which I doubt, I'd just refuse to give him any sort of action |

this is a pretty standard call vs the 3bet pre vs most opponents
flop is an easy fold as played...no one at these stakes is doing this something your hand is good vs |

I'd actually recommend for you to just fold preflop against this size when you are starting out
I guess that's why you 4bet, you didn't feel comfortable calling
But UTG vs MP position 3bet you can be really tight without any real impact on your winrate, and just play loose BU/CO vs blinds , COvBU
That's the thing about learnig poker, the more mistakes you will make the less equity you realize (You take the equilab % vs his range, and shave off percentage points off that, e.g. a hand has 40% equity, you realize 50% oop withot initiative, you can treat it as 20% and call if you still have the odds) and the tighter you should play, and at NL10 you can just let it go and focus on more common spots |

They have to be very nitty for you to fold to flop jam, as you can see from equilab. I'm not sure about this at nl10, perhaps they can be. gl moving up . Probably shouldnt 4bet often at all vs someone this nitty but this is a good hand to do it with. |

If the villian is SO nitty that we have to CF this its awful to 4bet as bluffs basically, you dont exploit nits showing aggresion with more aggresion, you do it by folding.
Now this is asuming that your perception of his range is correct, and that is a BIG assumption |

plays better as a 4bet than a call OOP though and even vs tight ranges this would be one of the good bluffs along with AQs and AKo I guess
and well I don't see myself check/folding here ever |

But if he is such a monumental nit that we are going to CF TP+GS with like a 1.5:1 STPR then we shouldn't be 4betting any hands preflop, especially not bluffs |

yea I was just saying it's a good hand to 4bet with pre, the big mistake was made postflop indeed |

Thanks for the feedback. I normally prefer 4bet or fold as it's a lot easier to play post-flop, well it should be but I got it wrong here, even given the read that he is only shoving value. I like the fold to 3bet, given the positions, sizing and opponent's tendencies. I definitely need to adjust my pre-flop ranges more vs nits.
Interesting idea that if I take a pure value 4bet line then perhaps I should just be flatting with these hands and have a 0% 4bet strat. I think it's still more profitable to just 4bet the value hands anyway, I'm not going to get exploited playing this unbalanced at nl10z
The other question was do people generally cbt or check in this kind of spot? |
