my thinking is that i have some backdoor draws plus probably 6 clean outs with my overcards, so my hand isn't completely demolished by his calling range. and i've been picking on him kindof a lot, i feel he's fairly likely to be playing back at me a little light. but i'm not sure if this is way too much risk for the reward?

If you're picking on him he also calls you down pretty light ;o
