I would bet more on flop 7.50-8 or as much as pot depending on the opponent. My friend makes a good laydown because the guy showed it down, but how do you avoid letting this donkey catch that second 9 or is this an inevitable busto hand.

U dont want to avoid the donkey trying to catch. U want the donkey to try to catch when you are betting the POT so like 10 on the flop and then pot the turn if its safe, ur bet sizes look so weak that the opponent thought he had the best hand, i dont think the opponent is a donkey here. You are..
