raise preflop, too hard to stack someone in limped pot |

its not always better to bet but in this case it is
there is not many turn cards that will suddenly give you action, unless that cards make him beats you
Its an A high flop, if they got QJ and turn is Q, they wont play for stack with it |

very good point floofy, something similar happened to me 2 days ago where i checked 22 OOP on a AJ2 flop in a raised pot. Person checked behind turn was a 7 and all of a sudden I got massive action and he flipped over 77 so i screwed up -.-
perhaps not the best example since it was a raised pot pre but im sure u get the point logiabs ;p |

cause if you do ur hand is very disguised and u can win a really big pot if you hit your set or take it down with a cbet. when they play back at you you can really easily get away so no real danger anywhere. |

raise because:
1) you win a lot of small pots either preflop or on the flop with a cbet that you wouldn't win by limping
2) if you do hit a set it's much easier to stack someone who flopped top pair or some other 2nd best hand in a raised pot because there's more money in the pot and thus the bets will be bigger and he'll become more easily attached to his hand.
3) you'll get run over by aggressive players behind you who isolate your limps with a wide range and constantly punish you postflop for limping in.
4) your hand is kinda "face up" by limping small pairs (i assume you don't limp many other hands, perhaps suited connectors? which is bad also!)
if a few people limp in beforehand i don't mind limping behind with hands that can hit big flops cause it's a multiway pot so there's a fair chance someone else will hit a decent part of the flop + there's more money in the pot than when there's just 1 limper (which is the case most of the time when you open limp from mid/late position) |
