I think you should have bet the flop for him, you get fold equity and if you get re-raised you get implied odds

In fact he was probably ready to check minraise you on that flop or something hahaha so if you bet that flop you probably would've stacked him

Say you bet the pot on the flop, 1.50, alot of the time you will take it down right there. If you get called you can improve in more ways than just the flush on the turn. If you get raised, say to 4.50 (which would be common) you are calling $3 into a $9.50 pot which is great odds for your flush draw and if you hit you will probably take your opponents entire stack.
