Should this be easy river call? I was a bit worried.

Donk Player might even have called you down for runner-runner-flush, and from what i see this is not exactly a great opponent, I'd have quite some trouble calling, but even more troubling reraising that guy... Please explain that Raszi...

Obviously the only thing you are worried about on this hand is someone playing K-10... welll maybe you fear a flush a little, that is why a bigger flop bet would make you much more comfortable reraising this.

I think this is a classic example of why you can't just lay down a monster when a scare card comes. You need good reason to lay it.

Why would you bet the flop so weak, it's completely ridiculous. You play this hand as if you hold AA on A72 rainbow, a board where you most likely should not expect any action.

You have 999 and most importantly there's an ace on board. If someone is holding Ax they will call your bet, whether it's 2 or 4. If they do not have an ace they will fold most of the time anyway. 4 on flop means you'll be able to bet 8 on turn, increasing the potsize by alot. Lower set on Axx should be played as strong as possible, there's alot of money to be made.

And this river you should 100% call. As Raszi said you could consider reraising. The probability of him being 2-pair-happy is alot higher than hitting a runner runner flush or gutshot. Especially if you had played this hand better on flop and turn.

I don't see why u would possibly raise him on the river.

His bet is very large... why would he come out betting something that hard if it can't beat your set or isn't some sort of bluff?

Grindin so hard, Im smashin pussies left and right.

Because he's playing .25/.50 and this play could very well be a fish with two pair.

...or this could be very well a fish with pocket aces
i´ve seen one guy check-flatcalling after he hit 4-of-a-kind Aces on the turn

there is a light at the end of the tunnel... (but sometimes the tunnel is long and deep as hell)

Yea well it was in fact the flush card that scared me a bit, he could've been calling me with Axs of hearts all the way or, as RaSZi said, maybe KT. I do agree I should've bet it out harder, I guess I wanted to "be sure" to make value out of it... But the thing is that these players in fact DO Call big raises with KT and Axs of hearts. I even got a guy reraising me all-in with a gutshot today when there was no real chance I would fold (pot being big and stuff).

i think this triple og guy is smarter than you may think, he represented the flush and bluffed at it, almost made muhweli reconsider his hand.

Noone is saying you should reraise, but it is definitely worth considering. Argueing otherwise is wrong. Even if 80% of the time you decide it's not worth the reraise, the other 20% when you are sure to have them beat will make you extra money.

And tontonba, the guy tries to represents a BACKDOOR flush, rather silly if you ask me. Opposite of smart actually. That is, if he thought about it at all.

If you raise at the preflop and somebody callin , it's sing he can have pocket pair or high cards with suit or not , or just bluff .You flopped three nines , and two other high cards came as ace na queen, you should check there, not becouse you are afraid , only for reason to check out what he can have.If he check , probably he didn't flopped anything (we are talking about thi s hand). If he has quiet nothing , you shall not bet after next community cards would come , as you might predict , he will fold . Good reading at the flop is imho the most important part of reading during the hand, dont waste this part for gambling or making money, you should use it for reading , and try look at this like the investment to making money later. This time you had luck , he flopped Queen and he thought he might win that.

Of course some cases don't need this rule , becouse sometimes best rule is no rules.

LOL! Just bet it hard, like 5 on flop, 11 on turn, 20 on river or something.. You're not taking advantage of your opponent's mistakes.

One very suspicious player

Muhweli do you ever play on party?
I was at a table with a Muhweli yesterday, same stakes as this.

Muhweli   Finland. Dec 14 2005 01:27. Posts 10663

Fraser, I've played some at party for a couple of days now. I also play at Stars and Prima... I don't think I played there yesterday though, the day before that I did

you can't raise on the river
lesser hands will fold while greater hands will call or push
that bet means he's either bullshitting or he's got the flush (maybe str8)

call.

ElkY    France. Dec 14 2005 07:35. Posts 231

Seeing how deep they are i wouldn't really advise a raise on the river. The only possibility for him to call is if he had AJ (or maybe AQ and played the hand really bad).

This kind of bet on river is usually nuts or nothing so a raise wouldnt be worthy most of the time i think.

Definitely bet the flop very strongly tho.
