why would i fold the river ??

I sometimes fold AA preflop to balance my range

Why wouldnt he bet the river? He beats every hand except a higher flush, so I think this is more read dependent, the guy was calling him down with the flush draw on board so a higher flush is certainly likely but if he paired the A then he cant have a flush. Check/calling the river could be good in lots of situations but a read certainly helps.

I think you should have check/called the turn though, its cheaper to see the river that way, you will get raised by lots of hands on the turn yeah?
