whats up with the turn small bet?

asdf2000   United States. Jul 04 2007 21:35. Posts 7702

he's a pretty good player, so my thinking was

i had him on 88-jj, a set, or flush draw
if he has a set he will raise this bet
if he has a flush draw he will call
if he has 88-jj he *may* call

I could have bet a little larger (like 60) but I wanted to make sure he didn't fold his flush draw and that there would be a chance of him calling with a weaker pair
if it was a scarier board i def woulda bet like 60

BTW - i already knew someone would instantly reply to this saying something like "why small bet" or "bet pot turn". I am getting so fucking tired of that. Yes there are alot of times for aggression but honestly betting pot pot pot pot pot is NOT the only way to play.

but on the other hand you cant get upset when he oudraws you when you on purpose take the higher risk by betting small

would u have folded to a same size bet if it was a flushcard that hit?

why do you want him to continue calling with his flush draw?

I don't think betting bigger would have changed anything in this situation.. except the amount of money I lost.

and yes of course i would have folded if the flush draw hit. a flush card on the river and this river aren't even comparably. there is no way a sane player should have him on the straight here.

You had him on a very tight range on the turn, and if he is any good at all, he wont make a random stupid bluff with a flushdraw on the river right? So easy pitch =)
