nolan   Ireland. Jul 08 2007 04:02. Posts 6205 this hand is played well up until the river. DONT CHECK CALL HERE ERIC. BET HIM HIS LAST $5. I know it seems suicidal given that just about every card combo he could likely have beats you by the river. (Literally I can't think of anything other than KJ that you beat haha. 89, 87, 9T, JT, JQ, J9 ugh). However this is a huge fundemental leak regardless. Check/Calling will only pick off a missed flush draw that decides to bluff. Bet him his last $5. If he has KJ he is probably going to check behind. But he will convince himself he has to throw in his last $5 in case you are bluffing or whatever. Also maybe hes a bonehead and has like J4 offsuit. Or 95 clubs or something. You really never know. checking the river here allows him to check behind the hands you beat (that would almost HAVE to call if you put them all in) and allows him to BET $5 THAT YOURE GOING TO CALL ANYWAYS with hands that beat you. IF YOURE GOING TO CALL A SHOVE ON THE RIVER, UNLESS YOURE FAIRLY SURE THAT THE GUY HAS AIR/A BUSTED DRAW, YOU NEED TO DO THE SHOVING YOURSELF. BETTING IS ALWAYS A GOOD BET.
