I think you should've folded turn, you were getting terrible odds to draw on a paired board. From the guys betting you would assume he had a hand better than yours also.
But when you hit your flush theres no getting away from it on the river.

It was a bit loose open-calling with Q9s in the first place (though probably not that bad given you were one off the button with 7 players). I also agree with GoodKarma that you should fold to his turn bet given that you don't have odds to draw to the flush, and you only have top pair 3rd kicker right now.
