well its retarded to smooth call flop, then bet out before the flop bettor has a chance to bet the turn.
you should only smooth call flop if:
1. you think they have a hand that they will bet on the turn too, in which case you should checkraise turn, not bet out on turn.
2. you think they have a weak hand that they are drawing veeeeery slim to hitting better than your set, but will think their hand is good if you show weakness by jsut calling flop, and checking turn. then they might call a half pot bet on river.

There are more hands that will call this push i have beat
people are capable of slowplaying two pair and betting out with absolutely nothing at these limits.
Just because i think i'm cool like TalentedTom and dont fold overpairs much (only if multiway and scarecard hits and someone bets out / raises) i've seen the weirdest pushes. second and third bullets with cards that dont even connect. |
