I checked the flop here to induce bluffs and try to keep the pot small if someone else had a better kicker. I felt like i could do this without a problem since the board is practically draw free. It didn't work out the way i planned though .

You absolutely have to lead the flop. Like this you are playing the hand in a total vacuum, and are left only bluffcatching by the end.
