My thought process was this: his donkbet is small and that (in my limited experience) usually means he's either bet/folding or playing to trap and will bet bet/3bet with a monster. I figured to raise the flop to kick him out of the pot or fold to a push, and I have overcards plus a backdoor flush draw. But when he flats and I miss the turn, what am I supposed to do? Should I have done something different on the flop?

Looking back at it I feel like I turned my hand into a bluff with the flop raise, which is why I guess I felt an inclination to fold the turn. But I have no idea what my plan for the hand is if I flat his flop bet...?
Any input? I get myself in trouble with AK a lot...

I don't have a HUD, and anyway I just moved up to NL50 and don't really have stats on anybody. I haven't been playing with him long enough to have any notes.
