I was thinking that a 4bet all-in preflop would be a bit of an overbet, is this an OK alternative? Or is it a bad idea because I might miss the flop?

I just don't see getting the weaker part of his 3bet range to call $44 more with $6 invested, but I guess that's player dependent.
