no, bet on the flop and raise on the turn. you gave that ace high flush draw cheap cards. it's only luck that he hit a straight instead of the nut flush.
dont let higher spades draw cheaply. |

i dunno about the flop check, the As and Ks would probably call any bet you put in there, you're lucky he hit his straight on river, else slow playing it gains you nothing
not sure how to play this, but betting that flop, especially with 2 others in, can't be bad |

I see it like this: if I bet the flop and turn hard, they won't pay me off. If I just call thoe bets, and the river comes another spade, I lost like 10bb's. If I slowplay it, and they hit something (especially cuz it was a raised pot) I gain way more.
Poker isn't about winning pots, it's about extracting the most money over the long term in your winners.
If i bet here on flop they'll just fold. |

that is a terrible idea.
the cardinal rule of slowplaying: dont do it if the free card has even a REMOTE possibility of making your opponent a better hand than yours.
aggression in this scenario is key, and like Arya and I have said, it's only due to incredible luck that your opponent hit the runner runner straight to pay you off. think if any spade fell, suddenly you're in deep shit and you're slapping yourself for slowplaying.
in response to your edit: you're wrong. yes, poker isnt about winning pots, its about making the right decision and in this hand, you made the wrong decision by slowplaying. |

I understand that concept.
I just decided to play it like this here because it was a raised pot preflop and I checked the flop by accident. All I'm asking is if anyone here would raise more on the river, I'm not asking advice on the way I played it at the flop/turn. |

I think the river raise was perfect. He bet out, then you raised an amount that was highly callable (given his bet). If you for sure KNEW he had the straight, maybe you could have gotten an extra $15 but I don't think much more. Most people are very wary of flushes (way more so than straights). |
