Where did I go wrong here? Is it an obvious fold at the end? Check-call the river? To big of a bet at the end?

Was it wrong of me to assume he wouldn't smooth-call his straight with flushy showing?

Thanks!

a better question would be "is it unrealistic to expect him to flatcall after the board paired," and no not really, you'd have to have 2pair before the river so he played it fine. i would probably fold to the river raise, think about what he's raising with when the board pairs 9's:

you can beat only one hand that shares a 9 which is what you think he has when you call his hugeass raise, and that's J9. A9, Q9, 79 and T9 all beat you

well i guess you beat 89 too but you still lose to a lot of hands AND of course a straight. just fold it, you have barely anything invested in this pot

Yeah, I couldn't even tell you what I put the guy on. A7d was going through my head, as well as 88; wishful thinking, I guess.

Thanks for the input.

And I was refering to myself when I said "is it an obvious fold at the end?"

I was refering to the flush possibility on the flop, and the fact that he flopped a joint.

Sorry to confuse you.
