With so many people in the pot it sometime pays to put in a probe bet to see where your at in the hand, and gauge what your opponents have. And he more than likely has the best hand. The large bet from the SB reaks of a steal with many limpers, someone with aces would've reraised preflop with that much action, so the only hand you really have to worry about is pocket queens imo. Hence you put in a feeler to see where you're at. I could be wrong, but I think it was a good bet. **not to mention he was in position with a strong hand.
