Heres the best advice I can give you: BUILD BIGGER POTS.

Therefore, when you have the best hand you make more $$ rather than less and dont depend on other players.

You played this fine except that your betting is too small, you could have gotten more. Basically i'd raise to $4.50 or $5 on the flop, check the turn like you did, and make a bigger raise on the river.
