Checking here gives him the opportunity to bluff the river (and I think in this case he hit pretty much a dreamcard, had he bet you would've probably called some as it'd be hardish to put him on a queen, aye? Unless KQ. He could've flopped two pair with KT and QQ would eliminate the possibility of a two pair).
